La canción fue escrita por Joni Mitchell en su primer viaje a Hawaii, tomó un taxi hacia el hotel y a la mañana siguiente se fijó que habían cortado los hermosos árboles verdes que aparecían como telón de fondo, lo que, indudablemente, entristecía el lugar.
